Larry Jordan's Newsletter: December 1, 2025

December 1, 2025

Yay! December is here.

The big news last week was a new version of Adobe Premiere - 25.6 - and that Adobe has dropped "Pro" from the product name. One of the key features in Premiere is Media Intelligence; their version of machine-language AI. I'm very impressed with how cautiously Adobe is integrating AI into their products. In almost all cases, these AI-assisted features enable the editor, not replace them.

For example, Adobe launched Media Intelligence-assisted search. For the first time, we can search on sounds, text, visuals, metadata, or all four without requiring a third-party tool. This is not searching by file name, but searching by content - and it is amazing.

To answer your question, this doesn't exist in Resolve or FCP.

It's getting toward the end of the year, but something new is always happening.

Check out the latest Media Industry News - new stories posted throughout the week.

As we all know, our industry is in transition at every level.
Andy Marken
, CEO of Marken Communications, is an industry commentator that I've read and respected for many years.

In this article he reviews the entire business landscape of broadcast, cable and streamers with thoughts on their challenges and opportunities.

Webinars return on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

I plan to showcase the new features in Premiere 25.6, but that won't fill all our available time. Please email me suggestions on what else we should talk about.

For those that can't wait to watch, here's a list of all the new features in Adobe Premiere 25.6, along with links to learn more.

About six weeks ago, shortly after my session on the Color page in Resolve, Bob S. emailed asking for a more detailed explanation of how to match color between shots in DaVinci Resolve.

I finally had time to write up some of the easier tools that don't require a degree in color science.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's a holiday that revolves around friends, family and food. And, while Black Friday intrudes with its excessive drum-beat of "Buy Now or Lose Out" - that isn't enough to totally destroy the warm glow of thankfulness. Almost, but not quite.

One of my constant pleasures is you. As I look back on my life, one of the tasks I've enjoyed the most is teaching and mentoring. You, your interests and questions, give me new things to learn and teach. I remain deeply grateful that we still have much to talk about.

To that end, I'm looking for an assistant editor/writer to give me a hand with creating tutorials and this newsletter. Our industry is expanding in new directions, quickly enough that I could use help covering it.

If you are interested in regularly contributing, send me an email. I'm still designing the position, but it has become increasingly obvious that I could use some help.

As we return from Thanksgiving back into the challenging world of media let me thank you, again, for being a part of my life. We all learn from each other and I'm delighted to be able to learn from you.

Until next Monday, stay healthy, stay hopeful and edit well.
